Welcome to the Sutherland RaidFàilte gu Raid ChataibhThe Sutherland Raid will not be held in the current year due to funding issues that will hopefully be resolved for 2009. In the meantime, Highland Wildcat is working with the team behind the Strathpuffer 24hr race to create an 8pm - 8am event on the longest day; Saturday 28th June 2008. This will be based around the Golspie trails and will be similar to the Strathpuffer event in format. Conditions will, however, be in contrast, with a very brief sunset, no mud and plenty of live music in the marquee to entertain participants and visitors through the night! A link to the event website will be posted shortly, but meanwhile please note the date in your diary.
2007 Sutherland Raid
There were challenging cross-country routes, world-class MTB routes on the slopes of Ben Bhraggie, relays and time trials with outstanding demonstrations of skill and ability. The Raid also included the Highlands Schools championships with fantastic enthusiasm from all the youngsters from local schools who took part. Trials riders Duncan Shaw and Ben Travis enthralled the spectators with outstanding demonstrations of skill and ability, while negotiating 10 feet high hay bale platforms, balancing on scaffold bars and tree trunks, showing amazing control and technique. In the evening, Golspie rocked to the sound of class acts, including ‘Make Model’ and ‘Edgar Prais’ up and coming young bands that have played at Isle of Skye Music Festival and T in the Park respectively.
